Evidence-Based Medicine (EBM) is a fundamental approach to improving the quality of healthcare and guiding clinical, organizational, and health policy decision-making. In the Balearic Islands, this commitment is reflected in the joint work of two complementary initiatives: the Evidence-Based Medicine Unit (EBM-U) at the Health Research Institute Illes Balears (IdISBa) and the Cochrane Balearic Islands Group, an institution affiliated with Cochrane Iberoam\u00e9rica.<\/p>\n

Both entities share the goal of generating, synthesizing, and disseminating rigorous scientific evidence to support healthcare professionals, health policymakers, and the general public. While the EBM-U focuses on applied research and methodological support in systematic reviews, the Cochrane Balearic Islands Group serves as a bridge between the production of high-quality evidence and its effective implementation in clinical and social settings.<\/p>\n

This space highlights the work, objectives, and activities of both initiatives, emphasizing their synergies and combined impact in strengthening healthcare that is informed by and based on the best available knowledge.<\/p>\n

The Evidence-Based Medicine Unit (EBM-U) at IdISBa was established with the mission of supporting healthcare decision-making through the rigorous synthesis of the best available scientific evidence. With over 15 years of experience, it has become a national and international benchmark, collaborating with organizations such as the World Health Organization, the European Commission, and the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology.<\/p>\n

Since its creation, the unit has provided methodological support to numerous research projects, clinical guidelines, and evaluations of healthcare interventions. Its core activities focus on conducting systematic reviews, designing advanced literature search strategies, and performing both quantitative and qualitative evidence synthesis. Additionally, the unit applies the GRADE approach to assess the quality of evidence and formulate well-founded clinical and health policy recommendations.<\/p>\n

Composed of a multidisciplinary team of researchers, systematic reviewers, and technical staff, the unit combines methodological rigor with a clear focus on achieving real-world impact in healthcare practice.<\/p>\n
